Preparation
Step 1
How do you make a chicken burger? Prepare the necessary ingredients. I recommend making the chicken mince yourself by grinding pieces of chicken breast in a blender or meat grinder. Separate lettuce leaves from the stem, rinse, and shake off water. You can use store-bought buns or bake your own.
Step 2
Slice the burger buns in half lengthwise. You can use wheat buns or mixed rye-wheat buns, with or without sesame. My buns are small - about 65 g (about 2.3 oz) each. If your buns are larger (about 100 g / 3.5 oz each), this amount of mince will be enough for 3-4 burgers.
Step 3
Wash the tomato and slice into not-too-thick rounds.
Step 4
Peel the onion and slice into thin rings.
Step 5
Shake the pickle free of brine and slice into rounds.
Step 6
Salt and pepper the chicken mince and knead thoroughly by hand. Divide the mince into 5 equal portions and form 5 round patties of the same size. Make the patties not too thick so the burger isn’t too tall and is easy to eat.
Step 7
Coat the patties on both sides in breadcrumbs.
Step 8
Fry in vegetable oil on both sides until cooked through and golden. Keep in mind the patties shrink and firm up slightly while frying, so it’s better to form them a bit wider than the bun.
Step 9
Assemble the burgers. Place 1-2 lettuce leaves on the bottom bun halves. Add red onion rings. Place a chicken patty on top. Add tomato and pickled cucumber slices. Top with another lettuce leaf and the top bun half.
Step 10
Homemade chicken burgers are ready. Enjoy your meal!
