Preparation
Step 1
You can slightly adjust the proportions to your taste. But take bulgur and water in a 1:2 ratio. With this proportion the grain turns out fluffy and does not overcook. Instead of button mushrooms you can use any other mushrooms.
Step 2
Peel the onion and carrot and rinse them under running water. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrot. Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot skillet and add the chopped onion and carrot. Fry for 3-4 minutes over low heat.
Step 3
Rinse the mushrooms and slice them. Add them to the skillet with the onion and carrot.
Step 4
Fry the mushrooms with the vegetables under a lid for about 10 minutes over low heat. During this time the mushrooms will shrink in size.
Step 5
Pour the bulgur into the skillet. Add salt and spices. As a seasoning you can add herbes de Provence. Mix all the ingredients so that the bulgur absorbs all the aromas.
Step 6
Then pour hot water into the skillet and cook the bulgur under a lid for 15-20 minutes. During this time the bulgur will increase in volume and absorb all the water.
Step 7
The bulgur with mushrooms and onions is ready! Remove the skillet from the heat and leave it to stand under the lid for another 15 minutes. Divide the bulgur onto plates, add some herbs and serve hot. Enjoy!
