Baked Wolffish in the Oven

Step 1
How to bake wolffish in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Wolffish steaks should be thawed in advance at room temperature. Do not thaw fish in hot water - this will make it lose its juices and turn dry. Pat the fish dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. If you have a whole fish, gut it, cut off the head and fins, and rinse well.
Step 2
Lightly drizzle the wolffish steaks with lemon juice and pour over soy sauce. Since soy sauce is salty, there’s usually no need to add extra salt - still, adjust to your taste. Let the fish sit for a bit.

Meanwhile, prep the vegetables. Peel the onion and carrot and rinse them in cold water. Slice the onion into half-rings (or a bit smaller). Grate the carrot.
Step 4
Use any oven-safe dish - ceramic, glass, or metal. I’m using a ceramic one. Grease the bottom and sides with vegetable oil. Spread the sliced onion on the bottom, then add the grated carrot on top.
Step 5
Place the wolffish steaks on the vegetable bed. You can sprinkle the fish with your favorite fish seasoning.
Step 6
Cut the tomato in half and remove the stem. Slice each half. Arrange the tomato slices over the fish and spread sour cream on top. Put the dish into an oven preheated to 180°C (356°F) for 40 minutes. Adjust baking time to your oven. If you like spicy food, you can add a little chili pepper along with the tomatoes.
Step 7
As it bakes, the fish will become soft, juicy, and lightly browned. Remove the dish from the oven and transfer the fish to plates.
