Preparation
Step 1
How to make baked cheese balls in the oven? Prepare the listed ingredients. Use hard cheese; I’m using Parmesan (40%). I used 3.2% milk. Take the butter out of the refrigerator ahead of time so it reaches room temperature. My flour is all-purpose wheat flour. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Step 2
Remove the cheese from its packaging and grate it on a medium grater.
Step 3
In a deep bowl, combine the grated hard cheese, sifted flour, egg, and milk. Mix well until smooth.
Step 4
The dough comes together into a ball and will stick slightly to your hands. Don’t add extra flour, so you don’t spoil the finished baked goods.
Step 5
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. With slightly damp hands, roll small balls about 3 × 3 cm (about 1.2 × 1.2 in). Place them on the baking sheet with a little space between them. Bake for 5-7 minutes at 200°C (392°F), then reduce the temperature to 180°C (356°F) and bake until golden (10–15 minutes). From this amount of dough, I got 17 balls.
Step 6
Remove the finished cheese cookies from the oven and let them cool. Serve them warm or cooled. These balls pair nicely with a glass of wine or a foamy drink with friends. They also make a great snack for kids.
